Abstract
What happens when exhibition design ceases to be a technical problem and becomes a cultural issue? This volume explores the cutting edge of sustainable exhibition design: not the materials chosen, but the decisions that make them necessary.
Part of the NSBVN series – Non Si Butta Via Niente (Nothing Goes to Waste) – it brings together contributions from researchers and designers at the Politecnico di Milano, the IUAV University of Venice, and the University of Camerino. The first section examines the metaproject and curation as infrastructures of sustainability: tools for translating regulatory principles into design choices, reuse practices as interpretive acts, and exhibition systems designed to last. The second explores concrete cases: from the meta-reflective exhibition *Waste Age* at the Design Museum in London to the Civic Museums of Padua, from trade shows to modular museum display cases.
For those who design exhibitions, manage museums, and train future designers: ustainability is not a constraint to be respected, but a paradigm from which to start anew.
