Abstract

100 Things Not to Forget was conceived for Milan Design Week 2026 and explores memory as a vital subject of design. Through the reopening of two World War II air-raid shelters, the book examines what communities choose to preserve in the face of contemporary challenges, from historical remembrance to the climate crisis. Bringing together research, case studies, material experimentation, and curatorial practices, it presents design as a tool for connecting knowledge, places, and generations. At its core is an approach based on reduction, reuse, and sustainability, challenging the logic of excess and ephemerality. The result is a vision of design that creates lasting cultural value, showing that innovation depends not on forgetting the past, but on building the future from what we choose to remember.
